Associate Veterinarian – Join ARL Afford-a-Care Pet Clinics
The ARL Afford-a-Care Pet Clinics is looking for an Associate Veterinarian to join a clinic team where quality medicine, community impact, and supportive culture come together every day. If you are looking for a place where you can practice excellent veterinary care while feeling genuinely connected to your team, your clients, and the purpose behind your work, this could be the right fit.
For decades, the ARL Afford-a-Care Pet Clinics have helped make veterinary care more accessible across the Des Moines metro by providing affordable services and trusted care for pets and the people who love them. Our clinics were built around a simple idea: families should not have to choose between financial realities and caring for their pets. That mission continues to guide the work we do every day.
Our veterinarians practice in a collaborative clinic environment supported by experienced technicians, assistants, and fellow doctors who value teamwork and providing mentorship. We believe strong medicine happens when people feel supported, respected, and able to focus on patient care without unnecessary barriers. You will see a broad range of cases, build lasting client relationships, and work in a setting where your medical judgment and contributions are valued.
What makes our clinics different is the culture. We are mission-driven without losing sight of the importance of our values of compassion, credibility, intentionality, collaboration, and resilience. Our team cares deeply about making a positive impact, helping one another, and creating an environment where people want to stay and grow. It is a place where veterinarians can focus on meaningful care while being part of something larger than the day-to-day schedule.
We offer competitive market-based compensation, a flexible schedule, generous paid time off and holiday benefits, student loan payment opportunities, 401(k) options, and a benefits package designed to support both personal well-being and professional longevity.
If you are looking for a clinic role where you can practice quality medicine, be part of a strong team, and make a visible difference in your community, we would love to connect.

Requirements
We are seeking candidates with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited program and eligibility to obtain an Iowa Board of Veterinary Medicine veterinary license. Both new graduates and experienced veterinarians are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate brings strong clinical judgment, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care. We value veterinarians who are eager to continue learning, contribute positively to a supportive team environment, and share our dedication to improving the lives of pets and the people who care for them.
