The quality of medicine at MiVU is defined by our focused specialization in advanced diagnostic services for small animals. As a dedicated mobile unit, our entire structure is optimized to deliver superior imaging capabilities, including detailed Echocardiography and comprehensive Abdominal Ultrasound. We move beyond simple diagnostics by providing essential, minimally invasive interventional services, specifically U/S Guided Fine-needle Biopsy and U/S Guided Tru-cut Biopsy. This level of specialization ensures that our referring veterinary partners and their patients receive precise, timely, and outcome-focused results directly, elevating the standard of care across the region. Our primary service area is centered in Arlington, VA, placing you in a vibrant and demanding metropolitan environment. Operating within this critical hub means you have access to a diverse caseload, ensuring that your specialized skills are utilized on challenging and varied small animal cases throughout the region. This strategic location ensures maximum efficiency and impact, allowing you to provide essential diagnostic support where it is needed most in the community.Mobile Imaging Veterinary Ultrasound (MiVU) is looking for a passionate and experienced veterinarian to manage and scan at our outpatient facility located at the Hope Center in Vienna, VA. In addition, you will provide some mobile ultrasound services as needed throughout the DMV area (DC, Maryland, and Virginia).
MiVU, established in 2012, is a successful and growing veterinary service that provides convenient diagnostic ultrasound services to over 500 animal hospitals in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. With the high demand for veterinary ultrasound, along with our mission to ensure all primary veterinarians have access to this useful diagnostic tool, we are excited to expand our team in the DMV.
We encourage veterinarians with an interest and experience in ultrasound to apply. You will be trained for up to 4 months and compensated during training. MiVU offers great perks including, but not limited to: normal hours (M–F 9–5), no weekends, PTO, health benefits, 401k, bonus pay, CE allowance, licensing coverage, and a company vehicle.
Description
- Manage operations and perform ultrasounds at MiVU's outpatient facility in Vienna, VA on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with additional scans for internal departments as needed.
- Communicate clearly with referring veterinarians after outpatient scans, and occasionally with pet owners when immediate attention is required.
- Administer light sedation at MiVU's outpatient facility as needed (DEA license required).
- Perform mobile ultrasound exams across the DMV region on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, including abdominal and thoracic exams, pregnancy confirmation, litter size estimation, fetal viability checks, parathyroid and thyroid evaluations, cryptorchid exams, ocular exams, and general health screens.
- Use echocardiography to assess cardiac pathology.
- Perform ultrasound-guided fluid cavity centesis.
- Conduct ultrasound-guided biopsies, including tru-cut tissue core (14ga) and fine-needle biopsies.
- Prepare accurate, detailed medical reports.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited university.
- At least five years of veterinary clinical experience.
- Previous ultrasound experience is required. Preference will be given to those who can complete a full abdominal scan based on the ACVR Ultrasound consensus statement
- DEA License
Training Support
- On-the-job training provided by MiVU veterinarians for up to 4 months.
- Additional training and support provided by SVP internists, radiologists, and cardiologists.
- CE Course(s).

- Ability to operate a computer and other machinery, including a keyboard.
